How do we interpret them?

How to make it practical?
This is my biggest passion.

My biggest passions are shamanism and entrepreneurship.
I initiated myself into the corporate jungle by starting a marketing business at the age of 20, getting my B.B.A. and developing my own marketing model ‘The Core-Map’ under the wings of the Amsterdam Center of Entrepreneurship (ACE).
In combination with a diverse career as drug educator / trip sitter and travelling through the jungle and mountains of South America to learn as much as I could about plant medicine used in shamanic rituals this eventually led to helping the Mainline Foundation start a Social Enterprise to make the heavily underestimated practice of ‘harm reduction’ more independent.
(Harm reduction = reducing the harms of drugs by destigmatization & restoring human dignity)

When I experienced my first shamanic drumming ceremony from a Nepalese Jhankri-shaman, it completely changed everything.
No drugs. No plants. Just the drum.
“So it’s possible to get into the realm of visions without the use of plant medicine?!”
Before this time, I was using mostly psychedelic/entheogenic plants to get into the shamanic trance-state. Even though this can provide great value, it is definitely not a light undertaking and you will need a full day/night for the experience, fasting a few hours before, time to recover/integrate afterwards and when not properly guided could leave you more confused than how you entered.

In no way I discredit the value of plant medicine as I have benefitted greatly from them, but since I’ve discovered the shamanic dream-realms can be entered by using the sound of the drum I personally prefer using this method; it is easy, quick, always provides me with results and insight, and afterwards I can (almost always) continue my day as if nothing happened. So I can get right back to living life with a new acquired perspective on the question that was bothering me, ready to rock!
To me it feels like the visions during the trance-state induced by shamanic drumming are very similar – in their style, symbolism and metaphors – to ingesting powerful psychedelics like DMT or Psilocybin Mushrooms. Although visions induced by the sound of the drum are not as “in your face” as actual tripping, every time I do it they become more clear and vivid. Because it is more subtle, I find it to be more practical and lucid, providing more space for conscious interaction and communication with the subconscious. This way you actually build on a more sustainable form of shamanic journeying – relying on your own power.

Interview about Salvia Divinorum
From my past work as drug educator and trip sitter I first set out on a journey to explore the limits of nearly every psycho-active plant out there. Primarily to explore, but also to learn more about the dream-state in which visions are produced. I was absolutely fascinated by the symbolic meaning and how I could use these metaphors to grow in life. When doing this, you inevitably stumble upon the practice of shamanism; which is all about decoding and interacting with these visions to gain insight or healing. This resonated deeply, so I started a new journey to learn everything I could about this mysterious craft…
As soon as I started travelling in South-America I quickly discovered shamanism is about much more than psychedelic drugs; I learned about honouring and working with the four directions, different layers of reality in the shamanic/imaginative realms, the power of the sweat lodge, the power of intention & rituals, functional mythology, power animals, how to interpret visions and the importance of staying in touch with nature.
Disclaimer
Although I am inspired by different shamans from different cultures/traditions I have never been in an extensive 1-on-1 apprenticeship with a traditional shaman earning a “shaman”-title by initiation in their culture/teachings. I never call myself "shaman" unless clearly joking. I consider myself a humble but devoted shamanic practitioner, choosing consciously not to associate with one particular shamanic culture, learning as much as possible from my direct experience with the shamanic realms & visions.
Shamanism is a universal practice, preached among many cultures from many different continents. Shamanic work is always practical, gaining its functionality in the context of the culture in which it is practiced. As my culture is the corporate jungle, I apply the principles of shamanism to marketing and business.
Many shamanic cultures envision their nearby forest or mountain as being alive, enspirited by the spirit of the forest or the spirit of the mountain. They use different methods to induce a trance-state in which they communicate to these spirits in order to stay in balance and symbiosis with their surroundings. Functional mythology. Every tribe also has a different spirit they align themselves with.
What if we see businesses and organizations in our corporate jungle as different tribes?
The spirit of your business. What if you could induce a trance-state which allowed you to have the subjective experience to communicate with your company like it was a living being? Functional mythology.
Imagine the innovation.
